MORE SPECIFICALLY, WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO?
Please review answer #1 above, as well as the section in our menu entitled “OUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY”. This will be a good background for understanding our investment process:
- Meet with our client to clearly understand his/her financial goals, time-frame and risk tolerance.
- Analyze client’s risk tolerance through the use of questionnaires and in-depth discussion to develop and recommend an appropriate portfolio of mutual funds or individual stocks and bonds – all properly globally diversified using Asset Allocation principles.
- Choose a custodian and open an account. The role of the custodian is to ensure that no money or securities leave a client’s account without his/her express opinion. We primarily use SEI PRIVATE TRUST in this role, although we use Schwab Institutional as well and have access to others if necessary. SEI is a public company with more than 30 years experience, employs more than 2,000 people and is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA with offices around the world. It is the largest company of its kind in the United States.
- Using dollar-cost-averaging principles, we ease a client’s money into the global markets in three or four (or more) monthly increments. Investing all at once is too aggressive and risky for our thinking. Typically, we use SEI mutual funds to implement our client’s recommended portfolio. The following is an example:

Please spend a few minutes on this example. Notice its features:- Diversification across multi-asset mutual funds (or individual stocks and bonds)
- Diversification across different management styles.
- Diversification across different specialist institutional management companies.
- Now begins the day-to-day work of portfolio management, monitoring the managers to ensure they stay on track and rebalancing clients’ portfolios on a quarterly basis. We stay in continuous touch with our clients – to answer questions, to facilitate cash inflows and outflows as requested by our clients.
- SEI continuously communicates with us regarding the ongoing management of our portfolios and we are involved with client communications on an ongoing basis. We monitor our clients’ needs, taking action to develop a revised risk profile and recommending a revised investment portfolio as those needs change.
